3 Reasons You Might Have Low Water Pressure and What To Do About It!

Have you been experiencing low water pressure? It’s a fairly common plumbing problem, but it’s actually one that can be very frustrating. Whether you’re trying to take a shower and there’s not enough water pressure to thoroughly rinse the conditioner out of your hair, or maybe you’re trying to do the dishes. And the water won’t reach the top of the sink, it can be a real annoyance no matter what low water pressure experience you’re having. But what causes low water pressure, and more importantly, how is it fixed?

Possible Cause #1: A leak in your home's water system

One of the most common reasons for low water pressure is a leak somewhere in your home’s water system. Fortunately, this is usually an easy fix once detected. If you suspect you may have a leak somewhere, the first thing you should do is check your home’s water meter. If the meter is running even when all the taps in your are turned off. Then, it’s more likely a leak is causing your water pressure problem. Call us Eco earth plumbing for help.

Simply turn off your home’s main water valve and call us; we’ll be able to identify the source of the leak and make the necessary repairs. Problem solved!

Possible Cause #2: A blocked pipe

If your low water pressure isn’t being caused by a leak, then there may be another possible cause for that. It can be that one of your pipes is blocked and not allowing the water to flow efficiently. Blocked pipes are most commonly caused by mineral buildup, which, when significant, can restrict water flow and cause low water pressure.

Of course, there are other issues that can block pipes too, such as food scraps that have become stuck in the pipes. Even foreign matter that has been flushed down the toilet. If this is what’s causing your low water pressure issue, then call us for help. We can use specialised tools to blast away any blockages and get your water flowing freely again.

Possible Cause #3: A malfunctioning pressure regulator

Finally, if your low water pressure issues aren’t being caused by a leak or blocked pipe, then it’s possible that the problem is with your home’s pressure regulator. Pressure regulators are important pieces of plumbing equipment as they manage the water pressure from the local supply line into your home’s plumbing system. If yours isn’t working properly, then it’s likely to be the culprit responsible for your low water pressure issue.

Having a malfunctioning pressure regulator replaced is usually fairly straightforward but now something to attempt yourself. Just give us a call and we can take care of it for you.
